Week Two – Day Two The Story of God
Day Two
Scripture: Hebrews 4:12. J.B. page 1847.
Observation. Truth matters. We want to go to the source of truth, not just what people say is true. We read how the king from the fairy tale yesterday believed what was told him. But it was deception. John 10:10 tells us, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” In Genesis 3, the devil actually lies to Eve to get her to sin. In the same manner, the devil tried to deceive Jesus in Matthew 4. The devil is a liar. He is here to deceive you, to lie to you, to manipulate you. And his motive is your destruction! Take a moment to reread the Hebrews 4:12.
Application: God’s Word is truth. It is our go-to to find truth. Feelings will deceive us. Others will deceive us. The devil will deceive us. Even our experiences will cause us to believe things that are not true. Even our heart and motives are deceptive. But God’s Word is not.
Our days are filled with others, experiences, input from Tic-Toc and other social media platforms, news, songs, television. They all feed a message to us. Most of it does not point us to God.
We need to prioritize time in God’s Word. We need to fight deception with Truth. We need to trust God at His Word, not the world at its collective word.
You are reading this so you are headed in the right direction. Now fight to have this time with God everyday.
Prayer. Jesus, Your Word is true. So much else in my world is here to deceive me and rob what is best for me. Help me to spend time reading the Bible. And Holy Spirit talk to me through it please. I love You.
