Scripture: John 1:1-18.  J.B. page 1610.

Observation.  Jesus is God.  If you want to get to know Jesus, you need to first know that He is God.  Read John 1:1-18.

The Word is referring to Jesus.  So now that you know that, see verse 1 states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

In John 8:48-58 (page 1624 in the Jesus Bible) Jesus is having a conversation with the Jews.  And they asked Jesus who He claimed to be.

A couple thousand years before Jesus, God met with Moses in the desert.  God was sending Moses to Egypt to rescue the Hebrews from slavery.  And Moses asks God, who do I tell the Hebrews sent me?  And God replied, “I Am.”

“I Am” is the name God gave Himself.  And that is the name that Jesus calls Himself in John 8 before the Jewish people.  They knew Jesus was claiming to be God by saying “I Am” so they picked up stones to kill Jesus.

Application.  Jesus is God.  No denying His claim.  His actions, His miracles, His love for people, His confronting sin, His motivations, His rising from the dead, and archeology…ALL back up Jesus’ claim to be God.  Jesus was God walking the earth.

Prayer:  Jesus, You are God.  You claimed it and proved it while walking the earth and by rising from the dead.  Help me to fully believe in You.
