The Story of God – Week Four Day Two
Scripture: John 10:9-11. J.B. page 1625.
Observation. Last week we looked at the first part of verse 10. We were focused on getting to know our enemy. Today, I want us to see who God is and what He wants for us.
Jesus says in the second part of the verse 10, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” He continues, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lay s down his life for the sheep.”
In other words, Jesus came so that I could have the best possible life (not that same as the easiest life). Jesus is good. Just like a shepherd with his sheep, He watches over to protect and provide. The enemy wants to destroy. The motivations are completely opposite. Do not be deceived! God is NOT holding out on you. He provides the best.
Application: To win these battles that face you and I, we have to get to know God and how good He is. The more we know Him, the more we learn to trust Him. His Word constantly paints the picture of who He is, His character, His motivation, His desires for us.
And Jesus is God with skin and sandals on.
Hebrews 1:3 tells us, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right and of the Majesty in heaven.”
Get to know Jesus more and you get to know God, the Father more! He can be trusted all the time with every circumstance.
Prayer. Jesus, You are the picture of God. You are good. You are my shepherd, who wants only the best for me. Please Jesus, help me to remember this as I desire to follow You all throughout today!
