Week Two – Day One – The Story of God

Week Two – The Story of God

Verse to Remember: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, quipped for every good work.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Scripture.  Choose the passage.  (If using the Jesus Bible, page number given.  Or use Biblegateway.com or Biblehub app).

Observation.  What does the passage say?  What is difficult to understand?  What does it say to me?

Application.  How do I apply these verses?  Is there something to give God thanks for?  Is there is a sin to avoid?

Prayer.  Simply end your time with God talking with Him.

Day One

Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17.  Jesus Bible pg. 1828.

TAKE TIME TODAY TO READ THE LEFT-HAND COLUMN ON PAGE 1828.

Observation: Truth matters.  Did you ever read the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, The Emperor’s New Clothes?”  In the story, two weavers pretend to make the king new clothes with the finest gold and threads.  But they are making nothing at all.  The king’s attendants and staff knew the weavers were not producing anything.  However, out of fear of the king, they did not admit it.  They just commented on how beautiful the new clothes were.  When the king finally put on the new clothes, which did not even exist, he strolled down the city streets.  The adults in the crowd all cheered and complimented the king.  It was a child who finally said, “But the king is not wearing anything at all.”

A child admitted the obvious truth.  The king was NAKED strolling down the middle of the town.

Application:  Truth matters.  Many times we are told things in the world and we are just expected to take it as truth.  But it is not truth.  It is only what someone wants us to believe is true.

Reread the passage today.  God’s Word, the Bible is true.  We must rely on it as truth.  40 authors over a period of 1500 years penned the words of the Bible.  But the words were breathed-out by God.  And God is always truthful.  In fact, since God created the world, what is true was created by God.

We need to spend time getting to know what God is revealing to us through the Bible. It is written for you.  God reveals Himself.  We can fully trust the words of the Bible.

Prayer.  God, thank you for your Word.  Help me to spend time getting to know You through the Bible.  I know I can trust You, I can I trust Your Word.
