2023 – Words for the Year – Day Three
Day Three -REFUGE
Scripture: Psalm 46:1-11. J.B. page 812.
Observation. Some days are really hard! We have walked through an extremely hard couple of weeks just in our neighborhood. And it leaves people looking for hope and help.
The writers of the Psalms pour out their true feelings to God. They do not hold back. They have walked through some gut-wrenching circumstances in life. But after they pour out their hearts before God, they express faith and trust in Him.
The writer of the 46th Psalm calls God our REFUGE and strength, a very present help in trouble. And so, even though the earth falls out from under our feet and our world collapses all around us, we do not fear.
Application. God is our REFUGE. We can know that God knows all about the trouble we are walking through. He knows all about the struggle at home or at school. He knows how desperate our heart may be at times. He knows. And He is our REFUGE. God is the safe place we can run to and hide. We can hide our lives in His. He will protect our hearts.
Today, take time to read Psalm 46 again. In the place of the pronouns “our,” “we,” and “us” insert your name and read it aloud. God is a REFUGE for you!
What situation do you need to trust God with? What relationship do you need to run to Him? What has captured your heart and made you anxious? LOOK to Jesus, put your FAITH in Him. He is your REFUGE.
Prayer: God, help me to look to You. You are my God. I trust You. Though life can seem overwhelming at times, You are my rock, my refuge, my help, my strength, my Savior. Help me to run to You.
