Week Three – Day Three – 24 Days of Christmas
Scripture: Luke 15:1-7. J.B. page 1589.
Observation. What is the biggest most expensive thing that you have lost? What did you do to find it? How long did you look?
I have lost keys, sunglasses, wallets, credit cards and I even lost a child once or twice. ( I found him!!!) I look furiously until I find it or until I give up. I cannot rest!
This chapter is full of parables that illustrate Jesus’ attitude toward those who are lost. Lost here means those who have never trusted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They are lost. So quick question, have you really trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Have you put your faith in Him? If not, Jesus came for you. Luke 19:10 says, “Jesus came to seek and save the lost.”
What is Jesus’ attitude and reaction to the one lost sheep? Does he ignore the one because there are 99 that are safe? I mean, 99/100 is pretty good right? If you were to get that on a midterm you might be really happy. But this is not about a point on a test. This is a person. Jesus leaves. He searches. He does not rest until He finds the ONE. The ONE is very SIGNIFICANT!
Application. Jesus is concerned about the ONE. The ONE is not ignored for the masses. Jesus is concerned about you. Even though you are ONE in 8+ billion walking the earth. He knows your name. He loves you. He has created you on purpose unlike anyone else that ever lived. The Bible says He knows how many hairs you have on your head! Wow! God knows all about you and is still CRAZY IN LOVE WITH YOU! He cares for you! Let’s do some homework. Fill-N-The-Blank with your name.
Jesus loves ____________________like crazy!
Prayer: God, thank you that you know my name, you know all about me, and you are just as concerned about the ONE as you are the 99. I trust You. I love You.
