Week Nine Day Four
Day Four
Scripture: John 14:7-11. J.B. page 1632.
Observation. A few years ago, I worked at an event with tons of famous people. I served Tim Tebow his steak. I refilled the glasses of some NFL players. I cleaned the table off where the Florida Gators Football coach was eating. I told Urban Meyer where the men’s bathroom was located. I brought dessert to Chip and Joanna Gaines (do you know them?). Famous people were everywhere. Yet, I could not even introduce myself to any of them…not that they would care. Have you met anyone famous? It’s sorta a cool thing to do!
Jesus says that if you know Him, you know the Father. He is telling us that Jesus and the Father are one. Philip, one of the disciples stated, “Show us the Father and it is enough for us.”
At that time, Jesus said if you have seen Him you have seen the Father. This is a big deal for you to understand. Jesus said, “Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe the works themselves.” (v. 11).
Application. You and I have not had the privilege of seeing Jesus nor the Father face-to-face. But we can know He is who He says He is because of what He has done. We can read about it in God’s Word and we can see what God has done in our own lives that prove He is God.
And get this, you don’t have to work at some fancy pants event to meet God. You can know Him by believing in, by getting into your Bible and letting God reveal Himself to you. Much like Philip asked, “Show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” The Father has been shown to us in His Word and in His Work. Eternal life is knowing God!
So you have already surrendered your heart to Jesus, then keep on chasing after Him. Let the rails of your life, habits and heart, keep your pointing straight to Jesus! Remember, your communion with God ignites your courage for God!
Prayer. Jesus, thank You that You and the Father are one. Thank you for revealing what the Father is like by Your actions. I know You are Lord God. Help me today as I walk with You.
