Week Seven

Verse to Remember: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”  John 10:10

Scripture.  Choose the passage.  (If using the Jesus Bible, page number given.  Or use Biblegateway.com or Biblehubapp).

Observation.  What does the passage say?  What is difficult tounderstand?  What does it say to me?

Application.  How do I apply these verses?  Is there somethingto give God thanks for?  Is there is a sin to avoid?

Prayer.  Simply end your time with God talking with Him.

Day One

Scripture: John 10:7-11.  Jesus Bible pg. 1625.

Observation: Holy cow!  We have been looking to buy a used car.  As we have looked online we have discovered all types of people selling cars…individuals, salesmen, dealerships.   It is hard to know who to trust and who is just out to get rid their bad car and take my money.

Jesus is talking to the crowd here.  He says He is the door, the protector, the way for the sheep to get to the shepherd.  And anyone else is who enters is a thief.

Verse 10 is famous, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Application: The enemy, the devil, cannot be trusted.  His main goal is to keep you from anything that God has for you.  He disguises himself, he lies, he cheats, he scams, he convinces you that you got this and that God’s way is keeping you from the best.  He is out to rip you off!  He wants to take more than your money, he wants your life!

But Jesus said that He came that you can have life at it’s very best.  That doesn’t mean that Jesus came to make sure your life is happy and comfortable all the time!!!  You should reread that again.  But Jesus wants the best for you.  And what is best is NOT the stuff Jesus can give us: health, comfort, popularity, acceptance.  The best is Jesus HIMSELF.  He is way better than any gifts He gives.

Prayer.  Jesus, thank You that You can be trusted.  You want what is best for me.  Help me to trust You even when I do not get all that I want.  You are better than life.  You are better than any gift.  You came that I could have life at its’ very best.
