Day Four

Scripture: John 5:19-20 and 5:30-38.  J.B. page 1617-1618.

Observation.  Ever been in a courtroom or watch one on T.V.?  they call the witnesses up to the stands to prove someone is guilty or innocent.  They prove their case.

Jesus is speaking with the Jewish religious leaders.  He tells them He can only do what He sees His heavenly Father doing.  They get really ticked off because Jesus is claiming that God is His father!  HOW WOULD YOU REACT IF A CLASSMATE CLAIMED HE CAME FROM HEAVEN?

But Jesus defends himself claiming the works and signs and miracles He performs testify (PROVES) that Jesus is who He says He is.  In other words, His actions back up His claim that He is God’s son.  Jesus is saying, “You have heard me teach, seen me heal the sick and give sight to the blind.  That settles it!”

Application.  The world will war with you to get you to doubt your faith.  Difficult circumstances will battle your heart to try to get you to question God.  God does not call us to a blind faith.  He tells us to look at what He has done in history, in our own lives, Then believe.  Trust God.  God does not change based on our circumstances.  He is always good. ALWAYS!  Trust Him.

Prayer.  God, You are good.  You are real.  You can be trusted no matter this  circumstance:_______________.  Help me to trust You TODAY with this, just as the dad with the dying child did we read about this week.  ROCK TODAY! LET JESUS SHINE IN YOU!!!
