Identity, Belonging, Purpose

Week Three Day One

Day One

Scripture: John 4:25-30 & 4:39-42. Jesus Bible pg. 1616

Observation: Picking up our story from last week as Jesus is spending time with the woman He meets at the water well.

The woman tells Jesus she knows that the Messiah is coming.  She knew God had promised to send a Savior.  And He will be able to tell people all things just as Jesus had told the woman all about her life.  He knew she had been married five times and now had a new boyfriend.  Talk about looking for love in all the wrong places!  The woman is stunned that Jesus knew her life story (I would be too)!  The woman hits the road back to town and invites everyone in her town to come and see Jesus.

The people come and listen to Jesus.  And Jesus stays in their town for two days.  And the townspeople put their faith in Jesus.

Application: Jesus, God with skin and sandals on, shows up and met the woman right where she was.  Her personal life was a mess.  A big mess!  In a rush, she runs home and invites friends and neighbors to “come and see.”  The whole town probably knew her life story.  I am sure she was looked down upon in the town. Yet, she invites them to Jesus.

She and many others put their faith in Jesus.

Jesus does not ask you to get your life straight before you put

your faith in Him.  He does not require you to change and then have faith.  His sacrifice on the cross covers all your sins! Put your faith in Him and then he works in you to make you brand new.

Then we should be like the woman and go and tell our friends, classmates, teammates, and neighbors what Jesus has done.  We have to be strong and courageous!  “Come and see” should be our invitation to everyone!

Prayer.  God, thank you for your son, Jesus.  I know you sent Him to be my Savior.  I believe in Him.  Thank you for forgiving me of my sin.  Like the woman at the well, help me to tell my story of what you have done in my life so others can know you too!

Remember, just talk to God.  Tell what is on your mind and heart.  Don’t try to sound religious or churchy.  Be real.

ROCK THIS DAY!  GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE. BE FIERCE!
