Day Three

Scripture: John 3:22-31.  J.B. page 1615.

 Observation.  Remember we read last week that John the Baptizer baptized Jesus.  Today, we see John’s followers becoming concerned with John’s popularity versus Jesus’ popularity.  But John the Baptizer knew his purpose was to point people to Jesus.  And now people were beginning to listen to and follow Jesus.

 John paints a picture of being at a wedding.  People get excited to see the bride and the groom.  The best man is not the center of attention.  So it is with John, he knows it is time for Jesus to be the focus.

Reread verses 30 -31.

Application.  For you and me, we want to have the attitude of John the Baptist, Jesus must become a bigger and bigger deal than me.  He is above everything.  He is more important than anything else or anybody else.  Is there anything that is sitting on the throne of your heart besides Jesus?  What have you allowed to take over as more important?  Confess that to Him.  Ask Jesus to help you give Him his rightful place in your life.  He will help you.

Prayer: “Jesus, I confess sometime I make a bigger deal about _____________________ than I do you.  You are my King.  I want to love you above all else.  I want you to become famous.”  Today, help me with ________.  I need You.  Help me to love you like crazy because You love me like crazy!
