Week 1 Day 2 Time with God
Scripture: John 1:19-34. J.B. page 1610.
Observation. Think about what the verse says. What instruction does it give? If you have a journal or notebook, write down some thoughts.
John the Baptist came to reveal Jesus to the crowds. His job was to be the Thunder in the Street! That is a cool nickname. I think that is bold to be described that way. And John is accomplishing his job of pointing everyone to Jesus. See how he introduces Jesus in verse 30. “Look, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” Wow! Picture yourself on the side of the river bank listening to John, dressed with camel-skin and eating yummy locust. All of the sudden John stops and declares that as he points to Jesus. What is your reaction?
Application. Are you ready to believe in Jesus? Ok, so you have trusted in Jesus and you believe in Him. Now what? What do you do next? If He is your Lord, are you willing to follow his example?
Jesus got baptized by John the Baptizer. Cool beans. God’s son set the example for us to follow! Baptism for you and me is about following Jesus’ example. It does NOT make you a Christian. If you prayed that prayer from yesterday or something like it before, you already are a Christian. Baptism is shouting to the world what you have decided in your heart. And so, you get baptized after you have decided to follow Jesus. It is a symbol of what God has done for you. And when you do, you point people to Jesus like John the Baptizer did! If you would like to get baptized sometime, let’s chat!
Prayer. Talk to God today about your concerns. Test at school, family problems, boyfriend or girlfriend stuff. You can talk to God about it all.
