My Daddy

MY DADDY

Psalm 73:23-28

Scripture.  Choose the passage.  Have a plan, don’t make it a random passage in the Bible.

Observation.  What does the passage say?  What is difficult to understand?  What does it say to me?

Application.  How do I apply these verses?  Is there something to give God thanks for?  Is there is a sin to avoid?

Prayer.  Simply end your time with God talking with Him.

Scripture Psalm 73:23-28.  Look it up in your Bible, on Biblegateway.com or Biblehub.com.

I grew up with a great dad.  Oh sure, he had faults.  But there was something about that feeling when dad was in the stands watching me play baseball or dad was hugging me.  When I was with him during those times, not much else really mattered.  Even after I got married and had children, being with my dad was incredible.  Read Psalm 73:23-28.

Observation. Think about what the verse says.  What instruction does it give?   If you have a journal or notebook, write down some thoughts.

The Bible tells us that when we trust Jesus as our Savior, that He adopts us as His children.  He chooses us.  He is our daddy!  And the best Dad ever.  And these verses in Psalm 73 remind us that God holds our hand, He guides me.  And David, the writer says, “And there is nothing (NOTHING!!!) on earth that I desire besides you.”  “God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  There is nothing better!

APPLICATION

S  Is there a sin for me to confess?

P is there a promise for me to claim?

A  Is there an attitude for me to change?

Is there a command for me to obey?

Is there an example for me to follow?

Can you let God be that for you tonight.  Let Him be greater than any other want or desire or attention.  Get up close to Him.  Yes, there are some crappy things in the world right now.  But if you let God pull you up into His lap and love on you, everything else will fade away.

Prayer. Take a few moments to really talk to God.  Use CHAT to help you guide your prayer time.  But most of all, be real with God.  Talk to Him.

Confess

True confession is agreeing with God about your sin.  It includes repentance, doing a 180 from your sin.  Repentance is not just being sorry for being caught, but sorry for breaking the heart of God.  Examine your heart. Admit your faults.  Be teachable.

Honor

Honor God by praising Him for who He is.  You can do this by reading verse of praise or singing a song to God.

Ask

Ask God for your needs.  Praying for your own needs, both daily and crisis needs.  Also, pray for the needs of others.  Be specific!

Thank

Express gratitude for God has done!  Write it down so you can remember how God has answered your prayers!

TAKE SOME TIME TO PRAY FOR EACH OTHER.  PRAY FOR A FRIEND AT DEEPEN.  THEN MESSAGE THEM AND TELL THEM THAT YOU PRAYED FOR THEM JUST NOW!

Pray.  Talk to God.  It is not about a memorized prayer or saying the exact right things.  Following Jesus is about a relationship. So share your heart with Him.
