Big Grace Big Worship
BIG GRACE, BIG WORSHIP!
Scripture. John 4:10-26
We get back to the story of Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman. This will take another day or two to finish up. But it’s good stuff.
Observation.
What is the gift of God Jesus is talking about in verse 10?
God’s grace is found for those who believe in Him. Grace is something you and I do not deserve nor can we earn. You cannot be good enough to earn God’s favor or to keep it!
What is the woman’s big sin? And God still offers her a free gift of grace? It proves that you and I cannot be good enough nor do we have to try to keep being good enough. We have to let God change us on the inside. That is the mystery…Christ in us, Christ working in us.
Then they start talking about worship. What does it mean to worship in spirit and truth? God deserves your worship. If your God isn’t big enough to worship then you have a tiny, tiny God. So you need to get to know him more (truth).
- Is there a sin for me to confess?
- is there a promise for me to claim?
- Is there an attitude for me to change?
C . Is there a command for me to obey?
E . Is there an example for me to follow?
Knowing how much we do not deserve God’s grace directly ties to how much we worship. If you take God’s grace for granted, your worship will be small. If you a big view of how much you do not deserve God’s grace, but know you get it anyway, your worship will explode from your heart and mouth. BIG GRACE, BIG WORSHIP!
Prayer. Take a few moments to really talk to God. Use CHAT to help you guide your prayer time. But most of all, be real with God. Talk to Him.
Confess
True confession is agreeing with God about your sin. It includes repentance, doing a 180 from your sin. Repentance is not just being sorry for being caught, but sorry for breaking the heart of God. Examine your heart. Admit your faults. Be teachable.
Honor
Honor God by praising Him for who He is. You can do this by reading verse of praise or singing a song to God.
Ask
Ask God for your needs. Praying for your own needs, both daily and crisis needs. Also, pray for the needs of others. Be specific!
Thank
Express gratitude for God has done! Write it down so you can remember how God has answered your prayers!
Pray. Remember, just talk to God. Look at the ingredients above. Not every prayer has to include all the ingredients. Just remember, be honest. Don’t try to sound religious or churchy. Just be real as you talk to God.
