Psalms & Songs
Today is a flashback devo! This is a break form the SOAP format. I like it because it just gives you a chance to express your passion and love to God!
Some days I love to read in the Psalms, right in the middle of the Bible. These are often songs that are written by different authors, EACH one has been given the words to write by God. But here they express doubts, frustrations and just plain love and worship of our one true God.
Psalm 63:1-8 is one of my favorites. Take a few moments to read and reread as many times as you need to feel the passion for God expressed.
O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory.
3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
I will praise you with songs of joy.
6 I lie awake thinking of you,
meditating on you through the night.
7 Because you are my helper,
I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you;
your strong right hand holds me securely.
“God, I want to love You just like this. Help me to love You more than I love ANYTHING in this world. You are completely amazing. Your love is BETTER THAN LIFE ITSELF. Completely overwhelm my heart today with thoughts of You. Let my heart burn for You.”
