What Does Your Life Shout?

 

How was the first day back?  I hope the new school year started off great for you even though we all would like for it to still be summertime.  Good things come with school though…friends, football (soon will be the Nease-PV game), other sports that you like to play.).  And DEEPEN will get rolling.

 

Speaking of sports and football, most of us have teams that we love to cheer for.  No, not just cheer for, but get excited about.  I am a Texas Longhorn fan. Please do not schedule any events that you intend for me to be at during a game this fall.  Please not weddings, funerals, parties, or get togethers unless I can watch the game at the same time.  You are welcome to come over to my house and watch with me.  But expect me to get loud and obnoxious and jump up and down when the Longhorns make a good play.  Oh and if you are over, I love you, but I might not pay lots of attention to you.  It’s GAME ON!

 

PRAYER:  God, today, show me a little more about what it means to really worship you.

 

GRAB YOUR BIBLE:  Psalm 63:1-5.

You, God, are my God,

earnestly I seek you;

I thirst for you,

my whole being longs for you,

in a dry and parched land

where there is no water.

2I have seen you in the sanctuary

and beheld your power and your glory.

3Because your love is better than life,

my lips will glorify you.

4I will praise you as long as I live,

and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;

with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

 

Ok, now I know you read it.  But read it one more time.  Do you feel some emotion in this?  YES!  King David, the guys who wrote this was over -the-top crazy about God.  He had this mad, crazy, kinda of love for God.  It’s cool.

 

So, I don’t know if I would describe my love for God quite that strong.  You might or might not.  That’s ok.  But I know I want my love to be that big for God.  I want it to be big like I am a fan of the Longhorns.  I want it to be bigger!    Do you want your love for God to be bigger?  To run deeper in your life?

 

I want my life to shout “I LOVE GOD WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE!”    Pray and ask that to be true for you today too.  God will do it.

 

PRAYER:  God, I love You!  I want to love you like crazy, over-the-top kinda way.  Help me to fall more and more in love with You so I will be like a crazy fan at a game.
