Beyond the Cul-de-Sac

LIFE ON PURPOSE

We started Sunday talking about Cul de Sac faith.  DEEPEN has to get beyond the cul-de-sac.  You have to get beyond a cul-de-sac faith.  Take a look at the picture.  People here may believe they have “arrived.”  But God has called us to so much more.  Deep down inside, if you have trusted in Christ, there is a longing for something way more significant.

PRAYER:  God, show me how to live beyond the cul-de-sac in my faith.

GRAB YOUR BIBLE:  Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ¹⁹ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus game plan was to pour his life into 12 simple men.  He spent less than 3 years pouring into mostly uneducated men.  No big coliseum, no conference, no publicity on social media or television ads.  Jesus just poured into men.  He duplicated his life into others.  And in a few decades the Christian faith, known as The Way, had spread across the Roman Empire.

God is calling us, whatever your age, to believe in Christ and make disciples.

A cul-de-sac goes nowhere.  It is a dead end that allows you to turn around.  It takes you nowhere except to lead you back where you came from.

In order for DEEPEN, but even on a much bigger picture, your Christian life to accomplish its purpose, we must not have a cul-de-sac faith that just ends with a gathering each week.  Our faith must be invested in others…making disciples.
