God’s Kingdom

TALK TO GOD

God’s Kingdom

History may not be your favorite subject at school.  Ok, to be honest, this time of year the only favorite subject left may be D.O.N.E.  You may just want to see May 24 in the rear view mirror.

History, however, is one of my favorite subjects.  It wasn’t always.  Kingdoms of Rome, Greece, Babylon, and others are sort of cool to me.  What made them powerful and successful and what led to the their downfall?

Pray:  God, teach me to pray.

Grab your Bible:  Matthew 6:9-13, 4:17 and 26:39

 Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
10 May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
    as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today the food we need,[a]
12 and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,[b]
but rescue us from the evil one.[c]

17 From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.[a]

Reread verse 10 of Matthew 6 in the Lord’s prayer.  God’s Kingdom, what does that mean?  It means God purpose is being fulfilled.  Jesus was saying God is showing up.  He is about to change things.  “I am on the scene and everything is going to be different after the cross and resurrection.”

When Jesus showed up on earth, everything changed.  God was on the earth with skin and sandals on.  It was and still is God’s time.  His purpose and plan will not be stopped.

And the cool thing is that you are invited to be a part of the story.  You are invited to be a child of God, a child of the King of the Universe.  God has a plan and a purpose for you in His kingdom.  That is the cool story.

Prayer:  God, Your Kingdom is here.  Jesus came and ushered it in.  Help me to live for You and not my tiny little plans.

OK GUYS, IT IS TIME TO PRAY BIG TIME…BOTH FOR WILD WEEK AND FOR PASSION CAMP.  Pray that we would have 100 students attend Wild Week and that each one would hear the good news of Jesus.  And pray for Passion Camp that we would take 24 and that the entire week would be a God-encounter for each of us.
