New Car Smell!

 

The combined age of the 3 cars my family owns is 49!  One car is a 2000, one is a 2001 and the third is a 2007.  It is not a pretty picture.  Yes, I am thankful we have them.  The engines seem to be in good shape, but others parts seem to show their age.  In particular, the rubber sealing the doors and trunks fails and water finds it way in.  Sometimes when you get in to one of the cars, (ok, A LOT of times) there is a strange funky smell.  When you get in, don’t look at the person next to you because it is not the beans they ate last night!  The car smells!  Auuuugggghhhh!

 

In those times I really would love to have a new car!  I would love to sit down into a new car, smell that new car smell and just cruise around town.

 

Sin stinks.  But when you trust in Jesus, God gives you a brand-new life.

 

 

Pray: “God, thank you for your forgiveness and grace.  Show me how you make me brand new from the inside out.” 

 

Grab Your Bible:  Read 2 Corinthians 5:14-17.

 

 Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. ¹⁵ He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

¹⁶ So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! ¹⁷ This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Stop!  Please reread verse 17 a couple more times.

 

When you trust in Jesus, He makes you brand new on the inside.  Remember God comes to live on the inside of you.  And you are sealed in God.  Remember that Tupperware illustration.  Christ is in You, but you are in God.  And He wipes away all the sin and makes you brand new.

 

The stinch from sin is gone.  The sweetness of new life is in you.

 

And when you sin today, confess your sin and know that you still have a new life in Christ.  It’s not just a one-time new.  It is an every moment, every day, every season new.  You get a redo because of God’s forgiveness and grace.

 

Sin stinks.  But when you trust in Jesus, God gives you a brand-new life.

 

Prayer:  God, thank you for making my life brand new when I trust in You.
