The Chase

So this Bible is a huge book and there is so much in it.  Holy cow, how can I wrap my head around it all?

Here is a simple place to start:  God is chasing after your heart.  That’s it.  Following Jesus is all about relationship.  And what is the center or a relationship. Your Heart!  If your heart belongs completely to Him, you are right where He wants you to be.

God is chasing after my heart!

 Pray:  God, what am I withholding in my heart from You?

Grab your Bible:  Matthew 22:36-40.

  “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

³⁷ Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ ³⁸ This is the first and greatest commandment. ³⁹ A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. ⁴⁰ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

Imagine giving your boyfriend or girlfriend this survey question: How much do you love me?

(Circle your answer)  I love you with:

1. 0-20% of my heart. Maybe baby.
2. 20-40% of my heart. I love you, but I kinda like someone else too.  Coin flip!
3. 40-60% of my heart. I am getting there, sweetie, but you need to work on some things.
4. 60-80% of my heart. You are mine!  For now, I think.  Let me think about it some more.
5. 80-99% of my heart. Wow, I love you.  But there a few other things that I love too.
6. 100% baby! You got me.  I am head over heels in love with you.

If you answered anything but F you are probably single now.  Hahaha.  (and that’s ok).

But I think we play the same game with God.  Jesus came down to earth to honor the Father and to prove His love for You.  Don’t let that go to your head.  God’s love is not cheap.  God is not into playing games with you.  His world does NOT revolve around you.  He is still center of the universe, NOT you.  But God wants you to love Him with everything you’ve got.  He wants to be the most important thing in your life.  If you are not there yet, it’s ok.  But keep spending time with Him, keep praying, keep reading your Bible, keep worshipping.  And God will transform your love.

 Prayer:  God, You are the highest treasure.  Nothing else compares to knowing You.  Help me to fall more and more and more in love with You everyday!!!
