Captured!
CAPTURED!
Jumping right into it today.
Read: Psalm 27:1-5.
The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble?
2 When evil people come to devour me,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.
3 Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident.
4 The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple.
5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
King David (David and Goliath), is completely trusting in God. “Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?”
David has his life completely anchored to God. He trusts Him for everything. And then he goes a step further it seems..
He expresses that He only asks one thing, “to spend all of his time in God’s presence just gazing on His beauty.”
Ok, for some of you, this just seems a little off the charts weird. But what King David is expressing is that God has completely captured his heart. David only wants to spend time in God’s presence.
For some of us, we only want to spend time in the presence of someone close, or we want to only spend time in front of the screen playing Fortnite or whatever. Those things have captured your heart and attention.
As you spend more and more time with God, as you get to know Him, let Him capture your heart.
Prayer: God, I love you today. Show me what it looks like for you to capture my heart’s attention and affection.
