Run To The Light

UPSIDE DOWN

Run to the Light

I don’t need to ask.  We have all been there.  THAT season of life, those moments, those classes when we seem alone and everything is caving in.  What do you do?  Where do you run?  What do you turn to?  Do you yell? Do you break something?  Do you pig out on ice cream?

When all is dark, run to THE light.

Pray:  God, when the world seems to be all against me, help me to run to You.

Grab your Bible:  Read Psalm 13.

O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way?
2 How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the upper hand?

3 Turn and answer me, O Lord my God!
Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die.
4 Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!”
Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall.

5 But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me.
6 I will sing to the Lord
because he is good to me.

Some days it even seems like God is not listening and distant.  But do NOT trust your feelings.  TRUST God’s promise that He will always be present with you and He loves you.

I really like reading the Psalms because the authors get gut-level honest.  They are not afraid to complain to God.  They get real with God.  They even get angry with God.  But in the end they know He is real and He can be fully trusted.

So when the world turns against you and everything seems dark.  Don’t run away from God,  run to God.  Spend time in His word.  Read a Psalm or another favorite passage.  Do not trust your feelings.  Trust God.  He is the light.

When all is dark, run to THE light.

Prayer:  God, I know I can trust You.  Help me to trust You and not my feelings.  You are completely faithful.
