Make Him Famous

UPSIDE DOWN

Make Him Famous

Quick, name the most current top 5 famous people.  You seem them on the news.  You hear them on the radio, YouTube, or t.v.  You see pictures of them on magazines as you check out at Publix.

We put so much value on celebrities and other famous people.  Working at TPC Sawgrass I have seen lots of famous peeps and, I have to admit, it is very cool to see a famous person.  And when we do we want a picture with them if possible.  We want to quickly get on our phone and let everybody know who we saw.

Pray:  God, help me to see You.  Help me to treasure You.  Help me to point others to see You and make You “famous.”

Grab your Bible:  Read John 1:29-31, John 3:30, and Isaiah 26:8

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’ 31 I did not recognize him as the Messiah, but I have been baptizing with water so that he might be revealed to Israel.”

“He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.”  John 3:30

“Yes, Lord, walking In the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and your renown are the desire of our hearts.”  Isaiah 26:8

Yes, the first two verses we read earlier this week.  John the Baptist is saying (in my words), “Hey, Jesus is supposed to be the center of attention.  Not me.  I came to make Jesus famous.”

Isaiah then says(again in my words), “Yes, Lord, following after You, I want to make Your name and fame the greatest thing in my life.”

The big idea here is that…you and I have something bigger to live for than our own name and fame.  You and I have been purposed, appointed to point others to Jesus.  We are called to live for something bigger than our name.

Reality check: Our names will be carved on a piece of marble rock and placed in the ground.  Then we will be forgotten by most.  But Jesus’ name never will.  Live bigger by getting smaller.  Make Him famous.

Prayer:  God, You are the one.  I want Your name to increase in fame.  I want to live to make You famous. Your name is the one people need to know.
