Identity, Belonging, Purpose

A Few More Days

I hope you are having an incredible day so far whether you are reading this in the morning or evening!  I heard the Christmas story read in an amazing way with songs of joy mixed in this morning on the way to school.  I thought, all of us, whether done with exams or not, could use the joy.

God came down and was born in a stable with animals all around.  He was born to a young teenage girl and a young man who had to be dad to the King of Kings.  Wow!  And He did this so He could demonstrate and communicate his extraordinary love to you and me.

Read this story again this morning found in Luke 2:8-15.

That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! 12 And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

15 When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

Whatever you are facing today.  God is with you.  That is what Emmanuel means, “God with us.”  This is extraordinary news.  the shepherds knew it.  Today remember this is extraordinary news for you and for those around you.  Remember!

Prayer:  “God, help me to remember today the extraordinary story of Jesus is real.  What You did for me is real.  I love you.”

I hope you will join us Sunday morning as we go to Christmas Eve Eve service.  We leave at 8:15 and after the worship gathering we will go to Krispy Kreme!
