Be Real With God

Week 3 Day 1

I don’t know about you but I have “down” days.  Like someone ran over my cat and ate my peanut butter sandwich and I stepped in dog poop days.  I bet that happens to you to, but you could fill in worse circumstances.  Life sometimes wears me down and I get stressed.

On those days I find the book of Psalms, right in the middle of the Bible, to be extremely helpful.  It was inspired by God, but written down by many people who were real with God.  They were real people with real struggles and real relationships gone bad.

Prayer:  God, thank you for allowing me to be real with you.  I do not have to sugarcoat anything.  I can tell you about anything and be honest.

Grab Your Bible:  Read Psalm 121 ( the whole chapter!). Go ahead and read it 2X.

  I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

The writer asks God a question he already knew the answer to: “Where does my help come from?”  His confidence is already in God as he looks to the mountains, knowing who put the mountains together.

He knows that if God can create mountains he can take care of you and me.  Ever thought about that?  Even more so when you stare into the night sky….

He doesn’t sleep.  God watches over you wherever you go. He will not let your foot slip.  He will protect you.  You will still have difficulty but in the difficulty he will watch over you.  He promises and He keeps all His promises.

So today, whatever you are going through, whatever the heartache, obstacle, or trouble, God knows right where you are!  He is with you!  He will protect you.  You can trust Him completely.

Just be real with Him.  Open up your heart and pour out your feelings to Him.

Prayer:  God, you know what I am going through.  It is so __________________________

____________________________________________________________________________.  But no matter what is going on, I know you are here and you love me.  I love you God.
