Week 2 Day 2

 

Spend some time with God today.  Remember find a quiet, alone place with a Bible and no distractions.

 

Simple Prayer “God, I love you.  Help me as I spend time with you today.  Help me to focus.  Help me to hear from you.”

 

Spend some time in God’s Word, the Bible.

Remember “Believing that” is acknowledging that something exists or is true.  “Believing in” is putting your confidence and trust in someone or something.  “Believing in” becomes personal.

 

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells you and me…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
⁶ in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.

 

Placing your trust, confidence “belief in” is personal.

 

John 3:16, (look it up in your Bible.  Remember John is one of the 4 Gospels, that tells of when Jesus actually walked the earth.)

 

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in shall not perish but have eternal life.”

 

A little later in the book of John it says, (John 11:25)

“I am the resurrection and the life.  The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”

 

Do you see what Jesus is talking about!  And it is not just believing in, it is believing in a person – Jesus.  Jesus is not asking you to believe in some new rules, or new pattern of doing good, or even a new enlightening thought.  He is telling you to believe in Him.

 

Faith in God is believing in Jesus, putting your confidence in Him.

 

So what about you?  Have you done that?  Have you told Jesus that you completely believe in Him, that He is the Son of God and He has died for your sins and is alive now?  That is how you start a relationship with God.

 

So if you have already expressed your belief in Jesus to Him in prayer, how do you need to trust Him now?  Go back and reread Proverbs 3:5-6.  How do you need to trust Jesus today?

 

 

Prayer.  God, thank you for loving me.  Help me to believe in Jesus.  Help me to trust you completely with my whole heart.  I know You are real.  I know the stories are real.  I want to follow You.
