REBEL Week 1 Day 2

Week 1 Day 2
I hope you are having a great day. We will keep investigating the life of Jesus and spending time with Him. Starting a new habit is tough. It takes time and commitment. So if you really want to start a new habit of spending time with God, I highly recommend you set aside time with God as the same time everyday…sort of like keeping an appointment. Perhaps it is first thing in the morning, first thing when you get home from school or perhaps the last thing before you go to bed. Choose a time that works and stick with it.
Simple Prayer “Good morning, God. Thank you for creating me, loving me and forgiving me. Help me to love you more and more and more.”
Spend some time in God’s Word, the Bible.
Today read Mark 2:13-17 (Remember to use the table of contents in your Bible if you need to). If you have a Bible read the Scripture from there, if not read it below.
13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him.16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Tax collectors were hated by everybody. They were traitors and cheaters. They stole your money by taking more money than you owed for taxes. So everyone hated them BUT Jesus spent time with them. . He was a REBEL defying expectations. Jesus spent time with those others despised. The best example I could think of today is that Jesus hung out with terrorists and ate dinner with them. WHOA!
So here’s the deal…Jesus wants to spend time with you. Even with all of YOUR mess-ups, sin and big mistakes you have made, Jesus wants a relationship with you! WOW! That is so cool. Jesus loves you no matter what your past is.
Prayer. God, I love you. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. Thank you for forgiving me of my sin.
