Week 1 Day 1

Hey Guys,

Welcome to our first online devotional!  Following Jesus is all about a relationship.  You know those that you love hanging out with, you spend time with as much as possible!  So this is what a devotional or quiet time is all about…you meeting up with God.  As you do, you will learn to talk to Him and listen to Him.

So I challenge you to set aside a few minutes to read your Bible and meet up with God.  Grab your Bible and open to the book of Mark 1:35-37.  That is the first chapter of Mark verses 35-37.  Use the table of contents in your Bible to find Mark.  The big numbers in your Bible mark the chapters.  The little ones mark the verses.  Mark is one of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John that tell the true stories when Jesus walked on the earth.

Mark writes (Mark 1:35-37)…

³⁵ Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. ³⁶ Simon and his companions went to look for him, ³⁷ and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

Stop!  Take notice.  Jesus, God’s son, spent time with God praying.  So this spending time with God is cool because we are actually doing what Jesus did.  So when you set aside and read your Bible you follow His example.  Plus there is a HUGE benefit for you.  Spending time with God will help you…

Remember Jesus defied expectations!  He was a rebel!  You are already defying expectations by spending time with Him!
